Milazzo is an ancient Roman town (Mylai, the city of sea) with a medieval castle and a thriving commercial port. It is connected to the Eolie islands by an efficient service of boats and hydrofoils.

Do not miss:

  • The village: the oldest part of the town with a fortress dominating the medieval parts.
  • The Sanctuary of S.Francesco di Paola founded by the saint during his stay in the city (1464).
  • Madonna of Rosary Church, headquarters of the Inquisition Court until 1782.
  • The “Aragonese” town walls (XV century): characterized by a beautiful entry portal in the form of a sharp arch.
  • The Castle: built by Federico II d’Aragona, where you can enjoy a charming panoramic view of the Eolie islands and “del Tono” bay.
  • The Church of Carmine with its beautiful portal (1620) and architrave sculptured as garlands and whirls.
